Packaging machines

What is packaging?

The packaging technology is to enclose or protect products for distribution, storage and sales. Packaging also refers to the design, evaluation and production process. Package can be. Different kind of packaging:

Packaging may be described in relation to the type of product being packaged: medical device packaging, bulk chemical packaging, over-the-counter drug packaging, retail food packaging, military materiel packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, etc.

Also, the types of packaging machines are different, according to the products that we using. For example, packaging liquids such as juices is so much different from packing snacks such as potato chips.

As mentioned above, depending on the type of products that our customers order, in the food industry, different packaging should be used.

For example, in factories for packing nuts, cakes, snacks and products such as these ones, we can use vertical packaging machines, pre-made packaging, horizontal packaging, vacuum packaging machine and etc.

Also, for packaging liquids, it should be noted that the type of devices used for them is according to their density.

•  Vertical Form Fill Seal Packaging Machine (VFFS):

The vertical packing machine use gravity law.

Product is elevated by a conveyor or special lift and poured over a few buckets (multi head weigher), then poured downwards by the gravity of the desired products.

For example, if the target weight that is supposed to be filled in the package is 100 grams, this machine calculates by its advanced computer, and according to these calculations, each head release products to achieve target weight.)

Then the weigher were opened, the products are poured into packs that are already closed their bottom but the upper part is still open (each seal close the bottom part previous and the upper part of the next bags.)

Empty pouches are generally called cellophane, but their main material might be PP, BOPP, CPP and etc. It should also be kept in mind that the temperature of the packages should change duo to changes that occored in the bags shape (seal temperature)

Basically, packages that we use for packing snacks are called “Pillow Pack” (like pillow).

If the packages are used for packing nuts and such products, they must also change the shape and material of the cellophane and change their appearance. Take a look at the following examples:

•  Doy-pack baggers (packages that can stand)
•  Four Corner seals (Quad Packing)
•  Packages that can be reused (reusable bags)

To produce each of these packages, only the jaws of these devices are different.

• Pre-made Packing Machine:

This device does not have a bagger part, meaning that ready-made packages that are not closed are stacked together in the stacker, and the device automatically picks the packages one by one and clamp opens the empty bags and then fill them with the products and then seal them (close) and go to the next package.

One of the advantages of this machine is the fact that for this machine, the appearance of the packages does not make a difference because it only acts as a closure on them. In other words, they feed roll to the vertical packaging machine as the primary material, but the per-made machine only provides ready-made packages (one side seal).

• Horizontal Packaging Machine:

These devices are used to pack cookies and cakes. (because if we want to pack these products with vertical packaging machine, the products are damaged)

The products go to the conveyor belt, and the film covers the products and closes them and then removes them.

•  Liquid packing machines such as mineral water:

Liquid filling machines are very different. Those with higher density use more powerful pumps, which can also be used to fill honey in bottles.

•  Liquid packaging machines such as hot sauce:

Ketchup Due to the lack of vinegar, it is necessary to be heated during the process (to eliminate bacteria and prevent mold and deterioration) and injection action is used for filling them.

For the packaging ketchup they use PP material. (heat resistant).

• Liquid packing machines like cold sauce:

Mayonnaise may not need to be heated to eliminate bacteria because it has vinegar.

To make a can of Mayonnaise, they should be infused into PET.
