Introducing pellet production line

The pellet production line is 90% similar to the fabricated potato chips processing line, the only difference is in having Extruder and Die Plate machines, which are described in article below.

In the pellet production line, as well as in the fabricated potato chips production line, the main constituents are combined with the secondary compounds in a high speed mixer, and then transferred to the second mixer and mixed with water to find a paste.

The resulting dough is transferred to the Extruder by the conveyor belt and passed through the Die plate, which appears in various shapes.

The pellet has more than 200 shapes and you can change the Die Plate for having these different shapes.

For the 2D shapes, we use the same Die Plate that we had in the fabricated potato chips. As the dough passes through the Die plate, the strip comes out as a thin sheet and divided into two parts and each section passes through Rolling Cutter and in the following process, the one which are same are placed on top of each other and surrounded by shapes, stacked together. The excess paste is not discarded and then returned to the extruder and recycled.

For a pipe shape Die plate is used, the one that has a hole on it and the dough from the extruder passes through it and comes out in a pipe that is called the Direct Exclusion method, and molding isn’t needed anymore and just cutting action happen.

The pellets are transferred to a Drying machine and take their humidity and kept in storage for 72 hours in order to keep the moisture constant and is said to be called retention time.

  • Vibrating Feeder

The dried pellets are poured through the Hopper or the input chamber into a vibrating feeder and transmitted slowly at a specific rate to the fryer. For example, if the Fryer capacity is 500kg/h, a vibration of about 8kg /min should feed the freer. Therefore, the vibrating setting should be in such a way as to match the Fryer capacity.

  • Fryer

The pellets are transported to the Fryer that is a hot oil pallet between 190 and 195 degrees, and it takes about 20 seconds to come out.

The pellet fryers different from potato chips fryer and nuts fryer and the biggest difference is at least 3 meters in length but nuts fryer and chips fryer have 8 to 12 meters in length and also nuts and chips, at least 3 minutes took for them to come out of the fryer and this action took maximum of 20 seconds for pellets, because the purpose is to puff the pellets not baking them.

  • AAC (Ambiance air cooler) or Cooling Conveyer

The temperature of the puffed pellets that came out of the fryer is 160 degrees, which should approach the ambient temperature, that is about 40 to 45 degrees, which is done by the cooler to cool the environment.

  • After cooling, the pellets are sent to the seasoning stage, where the variety of spices is huge. (Pepper, salt, vinegar, smoked, ketchup, etc.)
  • After the seasoning stage, it enters the packing phase.
